Upgrades

Thanks to Steve J., I've some nifty new upgrades to the brewery. These are solid stainless steel pipes bent to fit my kettle. Note the pickup goes about 3/4 of the way through the larger bottom tube. I'm hoping this means another pint or so recovered. Brewing now so we'll find out soon!Thanks, Steve!

Dead Freezer, New Fridge

Well, the small fermentation freezer has died.

Thanks to the magic of Craigslist, I've a relatively inexpensive fridge that is about to get a second chance at life as a kegerator.

And it turns out the other one died, as well. So now there are two new ones. Again, Craigslist find.

Brewery Updated

The brewery is back in production.

New couplers have been welded into the kegs.

New stainless unions have been added which means I don't have to fiddle with tools during setup/teardown.

The first "new" brew is a Bohemian Pilsner.

Brewing on Saturday!

The holiday season already?
I'm hoping to have a nice APA, Porter and a very, very young RIS on tap.
We'll also have some cherry mead and a melomel of sorts.

The brewery has been shut down for a bit as I upgrade the plumbing. I'm in the process of getting the kegs ready to accept 1/2" couplers welded and redoing the plumbing so those parts that have to be removed after each brew session are easier to clean and reinstall.

My hope is to be brewing again by mid June or the July 4th break at the latest.

On March 2, 1836 the Texas Declaration of Independence from Mexico was signed. It was during this time the siege of the Alamo was ongoing where many an adopted Texan would lose their life in a massacre that still inspires today in the words, "Remember the Alamo!" Enough history, I believe I'll have a beer.

Where did you find the Temp gages?

I want to build a beautiful system like yours. What i can not seem to find is a simple Temp guage for the thermocouples in the mash, as you have shown. Where o where did they come from and what is the proper name for them? I found them on EBay. I took a while but I was patient and bought them for around $25 a piece. They called, "thermocouple readers." Scott
